A dental implant is an artificial titanium root that is placed in the bone of the jaw or maxilla. Once it integrates with the bone —a process we call osseointegration— it serves as a base to place on top a crown, a bridge or an implant-supported prosthesis with the appearance and function of a natural tooth.
Unlike bridges or removable dentures, the implant does not depend on the neighbouring teeth and doesn't move. It is the closest solution to recovering your own tooth.
We could tell you we have advanced technology and a qualified team. All of that is true. But what really defines us is something else: we have spent 35 years without rushing, without over-treatment and without telling anyone what they want to hear if it isn't what they need to hear.

An implant can last a lifetime, but it needs follow-up. We carry out periodic check-ups of every implant we place, and our patients know they can come back with any question —even years later— and be cared for with the same attention as on the first visit.
One of the most common things that holds people back from getting implants is not knowing exactly what will happen. Fear of the unknown is completely normal. That's why here we explain the whole process, step by step, without euphemisms.
The first visit is about getting to know you and assessing your situation. We study your mouth, check whether there is enough bone for the implant and explain the options. There's no commitment: if you decide it isn't the right time, that's fine.
With all the information, we draw up a tailored plan. We explain how many sessions you'll need, how long each phase will take and what you'll feel at each moment. The detailed quote, in writing, before we start.
It's done with local anaesthesia. The procedure usually lasts between 30 and 60 minutes. In the following days there may be some discomfort —similar to an extraction— that is well controlled with the painkillers we prescribe.
Over the next 3 to 6 months, the titanium integrates with the bone naturally. During this period we follow up and, if the case allows, we place a temporary crown so you're not without a tooth in the meantime.
Once integration is confirmed, we place the final crown, bridge or prosthesis. From here you can eat, talk and smile completely normally. Without thinking about it.
A well-maintained implant lasts decades. We schedule periodic check-ups to make sure everything stays perfect. That what we have built together lasts over time.
Many people arrive at the clinic convinced their case is too complicated, that they've gone too long without the tooth or that they're too old. In most cases that's not so. Here's what we assess:
It's more common than it seems. When a tooth is missing, the bone that supported it tends to resorb over time. In those cases we first carry out a bone regeneration that prepares the ground for the implant. It isn't always necessary, but if it is, we tell you from the start.
At the lower end yes: we wait until bone growth has finished, usually at 18-20 years. At the upper end there's no limit. We have patients over 70 with implants that work perfectly. What matters is general health, not the number on your ID.
During the procedure, no: it's done with local anaesthesia. Afterwards there may be discomfort similar to an extraction —some swelling and soreness— that is well controlled with the painkillers we prescribe. Most patients tell us they expected something much worse.

With good hygiene and periodic check-ups, the titanium implant can last a lifetime. The crown may need renewing at 15-20 years depending on wear. But the post that supports it, if well integrated, is forever.
No. The crown is custom-made in shape, colour and size to match the rest of your teeth. The result is practically indistinguishable from a natural tooth. You know it's there. Others don't.
Between 3 and 6 months in most cases, depending on whether you need prior preparation and how osseointegration progresses. In some selected cases a temporary crown can be placed the same day as the surgery, although it isn't always indicated.
Yes, but the disease must first be treated and stabilised. Uncontrolled periodontitis is one of the main risk factors for an implant to fail. At our clinic we also treat periodontics, so we can manage the whole process without you having to go to several places.
The same as a natural tooth: correct brushing, floss or a water flosser and periodic check-ups. The implant doesn't decay, but the gum around it can become inflamed if not cared for well. With correct hygiene, the risk is minimal.
